Plain language. No dark patterns. Last updated 10 July 2026.
NoCrickets was built by an 18-year-old who shipped two products to zero users, after building first and asking later. This tool is that mistake, fixed in public.
It reads open developer platforms (GitHub issues, Hacker News, Stack Overflow, and 20+ product forums) with plain keyword matching. So: it will sometimes miss the right room and sometimes surface junk, and it's tuned for developer tools. Consumer-product searches come back thin. No results is not proof nobody wants it. It just means these rooms aren't loud about it yet. Treat every verdict as evidence to read yourself, never as a decision handed to you.
What this is
NoCrickets is a free search tool. You describe an idea; it queries public developer communities and shows you the real, dated threads where people discuss that problem, plus a plain-arithmetic read on how much signal it found. There is no account, no signup, and no AI model generating answers.
Your privacy
- Your idea isn't stored. When you search, your description is sent to our server only to build the queries and call the public APIs. We log anonymous counts (how many threads and rooms came back) and never the text of what you typed.
- Your pipeline never leaves your browser. Threads you save live in your browser's
localStorageon your own machine. They are never sent to us. Clear your browser data and they're gone. - No accounts, no tracking cookies. We don't ask who you are. We log anonymous product events (for example, that someone clicked the Pro button) to understand what to build next. Never anything that identifies you.
- Email is opt-in only. If you email the founder about Pro, we keep that message so we can reply and let you know when it ships. That's it.
Where the results come from
Threads are fetched live from third-party services: GitHub, Hacker News, Stack Overflow (Stack Exchange), and public Discourse forums. That content belongs to those platforms and their users, and their own terms apply when you visit. We link straight to the original; we don't copy or host it.
Terms of use
- The tool is provided as-is, for free, with no warranty. Results may be incomplete or wrong.
- It is a research aid, not professional, legal, financial, or business advice. What you build is your call.
- Don't use it to hammer the upstream APIs, scrape at scale, or break their rules. Search like a human.
- When you reply in the threads you find, be genuine: a real answer, not a drive-by plug. That's the whole point.
- “Pro” is currently a test of interest, not a product you can buy yet. The button and email opt-in exist to gauge demand honestly before anything is built or charged.
- To the extent the law allows, NoCrickets isn't liable for what you do with the results.
